1:30 Tour of the Building. Being that we are all women this year, the most important room besides Room 308 is the bathrooms. So we went through a long hallway, took a left, then veered a little further left looking for the little brown sign on the wall that said restrooms and then found the women's restroom which by the way has 3 stalls and how many of there are us? Hmmm. After the bathroom we got to ride on the elevator. Yippee!

1:40-2:15 Read-A-Round Time
Fellows were able to pick out books dealing with the latest research and writing ideas to incorporate into their own classrooms. Off the shelf came Nancy Atwell's "In the Middle" and Lucy Calkin's books on Writing with Young Children. Writing in the Content Areas and Ralph Fletcher on Poetry. The Fellows just couldn't put these good books down.

2:15-3:30 Myra got us exploring blogging. Using a tech workshop that she participated in last year's institute, she developed an awesome lesson on researching explorers like Henry Hudson, Jacques Cartier, John Cabot, Giovanni Da Verrazano, Samuel Champlain. After she linked us to some pretty informative websites, we were to post 5 entries dealing with what we read on the website. Did you know that Hudson's crew threw him and his son and 7 other dudes off his ship when he refused to back to England? No one ever heard from him again.

3:30-3:45 We gave feedback to Myra on her lesson telling her what we liked about her lesson, how we would adapt it in our classroom, how we would use technology and any other words of wisdom that we could help Myra with.
By now, Jan and I could tell our fellows were probably feeling like deer with the headlights shining in their eyes so we wrapped the day up when Jan passed out a new week's schedule, information on two of our writing crawls and then it was time to go. Hopefully, everyone who was here yesterday enjoyed yesterday so much that they are reading this blog right now.
